Registration is now open. The daily timetable for the conference is posted, which should help you organise your trip. The recommended date of arrival is Wednesday 28 June when we will host in the afternoon a Business and Development Forum, a number of workshops and, in the evening, the annual distinguished Carl Schlettwein Lecture of the Centre for African Studies. The recommended date of departure is Sunday 2 July (the Conference dinner will be held on Saturday 1 July and an optional farewell brunch will be staged on Sunday 2 July).
All those wishing to attend the conference, regardless of their role - whether presenting, convening, discussing, listening - must register online and in advance. This does not necessitate paying at that time; registrations are manually checked and by the end of March an invoice will be sent to delegates including payment instructions. After having received the invoice, please pay within 30 days.
Full conference registration includes access to the opening ceremony, the keynotes, panel sessions, the film sessions, workshops, book fair, tea/coffee during the morning and afternoon breaks.
We invested a lot in an affordable lunch option. Our restaurant will be located on-site in the courtyard of the University building, i.e. in immediate proximity of lecture halls, publishers' exhibition and registration desk. The meals are subsidized and will be the most affordable lunch time option guaranteeing a decent quality (main dish, salad, desert and one beverage) and efficient service. Lunch will be served over a three hours' period, so that you can time your lunch in line with your individual programme.
The conference dinner is also an extra, to be booked at the time of registration. It will be a buffet meal and will include wine, live music (Jazz from South Africa with the Andile Yenana Sextett and a Blue Notes Tribute by Marcus Wyatt as well as Congolese Rumba with Yannick Koy, tbc) and a lounge with the Motherland Project (tbc).
Registration rates for the full conference are:
- Full rate: CHF 230* (originally given as €220)
- Concession rate (student): CHF 115* (originally given as €110)
- Full rate with three lunches: CHF 260* (recommended) (originally given as €250)
- Concession rate (student) with three lunches: CHF 145* (recommended) (originally given as €140)

There are no day-rates. Registration closes on 2 May 2017.
